About this time the First Egyptian Dynasty began (3100 BC to 2686 BC). Menes (Aha) was the first King. (Also known as Mena, Meni and Min.) The next six Kings were Djer, Wadj, Den (Udimu), Anedjib, Semerkhet and Kaa - (Reference from Encyclopaedia Britannica - 15th edition). Hieroglophic writing appears in Egypt. Present day researcher, David Rohl, places the beginning of the Egyptian dynasties another 180 years later, i.e. from 2920 BC.

NOTE: For the purposes of this study, dates of the Egyptian kings/pharaohs have been extracted from the 15th Edition of Encyclopaedia Britannica. The dates of the 1999 computer CD ROM edition of Encyclopaedia, bring the dates closer to the BC 1 dates as far as the dynasties and their pharaohs is concerned. The present-day Egyptology researcher, David Rohl, brings the dates closer again to the BC 1 dates - his assumptions dates drawn from comparative archaeological and astronomical information would cause quite a revolution in the dates allocated to the ancient Egyptian Dynasties. The important observation here is, that even in the present day (1999 AD) - the learned Egyptologists still cannot prove or agree the dates of the ancient past.
