JUBILEE NO. 38 - No sow, no reap From The New Bible Dictionary: "Good dates (of chronology) can be obtained from c. 2100 BC through to 1200 BC from Egyptian sources. These include king-lists, year-dates on contemporary monuments, cross-checks with Mesopotamia and elsewhere, and a few astronomical phenomena dated exactly in certain reigns. By this means, the 11th and 12th dynasties can be dated to c. 2134-1786 BC, and the 18th and 20th dynasties to c. 1552-1070 BC, each within a maximum error of some ten years; the 13th to 17th dynasties fit in between these two groups with a maximum error of about 15 or 20 years in their middle. Mesopotamian dates during 2000-1500 BC depend largely on the date assignable to Hammurapi of Babylon: at present it varies within the period 1850-1700 BC, the 1792-1750 BC (S. Smith) being as good as any." |

Enc. Britannica -(1) "According to long-established tradition, the history of astronomy in ancient China could be traced back to before 2000 BC." Enc. Britannica - (2) ? A lunar eclipse in Old Babylonia on 4 April 2094 BC? |
"The earliest known references to eclipses for which dates can be established with reasonable confidence go back to the 21st century BC. These are recorded on the series of astrological tablets from Ur known as Enuma and Enlil. Several of these texts contain lunar eclipse omina-warnings of disasters that might follow an eclipse based on past coincidences between celestial and terrestrial occurrences. Some of the omina are so detailed that they are clearly based on observation of a specific eclipse. The example cited below is found on tablet 20 of the series:
"From a careful investigation of the historical and astronomical circumstances, it has been shown that the eclipse referred to here is very likely to have been associated with the murder of Shulgi by his son and the accession of Amar-Sin. The most probable date for the eclipse is 4 April 2094 BC. A further lunar eclipse 42 years later regarded as signaling the destruction of Ur has been dated to 13 April 2053 BC." According to this chronology, Abram was born a year later, in 2052 BC (see this date below). |

Terah now aged 38 years. The Book of Jasher says that Terah's two sons Nahor and Haran were born when Terah was aged 38. Haran later begat Lot, but Haran died at the place named Terah in Ur of the Chaldees. So Lot was Abram's nephew (born 1948 AM or 2052 BC). The Bible says in Genesis 11.26 that "Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran. However, Abram was Terah's youngest son. If the seventy years refers to the birth of Abram, then Nahor and Haran must have been born before Abram. So it seems possible that the Book of Jasher may be correct in stating that Terah was aged 38 when he begat Nahor and Haran, i.e. in 1916 AM or 2084 BC. Abram will not be born yet, but in another 32 years' time - in 1948 AM or 2052 BC. |

JUBILEE NO. 40 - No sow, no reap Nimrod dreams. ABRAM is now married to SARAI (Abram's deceased brother's daughter) - so Sarai is Abram's wife and niece. Terah (Abram's father), leaves Ur with his son Abram, and daughter-in-law Sarai (who is actually Terah's grand-daughter), and with his grandson Lot. They go to Haran. Abram is aged 52 years. Terah's other son, Nahor, marries his deceased brother Haran's daughter, Milcah. So all of Haran's surviving children - Lot, Micah and Sarai - are being cared for. |
