First year of first Sabbatic Week of 41st Jubilee. From about this time there developed from the Ham and Japheth peoples, a confederacy of war-like peoples in Chaldea, with Shinar as the centre. In the course of time this developed into the Assyrian Empire with Nineveh as its capital. This became known also, as the Gentile civilisation - a national system in opposition to the system appointed by God through the line of Shem. SAROS CYCLE NO. 111 = 2001.3 years |

Abram now aged 75 years. He leaves Haran under instruction from God, and goes to Bethel in Canaan - the Plain of Maimre - Genesis 12.1-5. Terah is now aged 145 and has another 60 years to live. Again God tells Abram He will give this land to Abram's seed. The book of Jasher says that Oswiris is King (Pharaoah) of Egypt and Rikayou is his Prefect. Rikayou cunningly usurped the government of Egypt through taxes. There is famine in Canaan, so Abram goes to Egypt. (According to the Enc. Britannica's 15th edition dates, this would be the first Pharaoh of the Twelfth Dynasty - AMENHEMET I - as mentioned above. The 1999 CD ROM edition of Britannica gives revised dates, and in that edition then, the Pharaoah could have come either from the end of the Tenth Dynasty, or from the beginning of the Eleventh Dynasty; Mentuhotep II was given a revised date of 2008 BC to 1957 BC.) God delivers Sarai from the desires of Pharaoh, and they (Abram, Lot and Sarai) leave Egypt. Abram and lot separate and go in different directions. Abram stays in Canaan, then goes to Mamre in Hebron. Lot went east to Jordan. Abram meets the priest MELCHIZADEK. |

JUBILEE NO. 41 - No sow, no reap Isaac may have been "weaned" by this time. Genesis 21.8-10 records that Abraham made a great feast. The Egyptian Thirteenth Dynasty may have begun about this time, and continued through to 1674 BC. There were at least 70 Kings or Pharaohs over a period of 100 years in the Thirteenth Dynasty. The known kings include Neferhotep I, Sihathor (Sobekhotep IV), Iaib, Ay and Dudimose (Tutimaos). (Dudimose, the last king of the Thirteenth Dynasty, was defeated by the Hyksos King Salatis (or Silitis) in 1674 BC who started the 15th Dynasty.) This Thirteenth Dynasty from now on (1843 BC) runs parallel with the Egyptian Twelfth Dynasty - till about 1786 BC. The significance of this is that by the time Joseph (Jacob's second-youngest son) was sold into Egyptian slavery (in another 60 years' time) in 1783, and when Jacob and his family entered Egypt around 1761 BC, the Twelfth Dynasty was definitely operating in Memphis; the Thirteenth Dynasty was operating in and around the North-Eastern Delta area (maybe Memphis); and the Fourteenth Dynasty was underway in Xois, Avaris - the North-Central Delta. More commentary about this later. |

Joseph, aged 30, appointed Vizier in Egypt. The situation in Egypt at this time, according to our reckonings from the 15th edition of Enc. Britannica, is that the Twelfth Dynasty is operating in Memphis, and the Thirteenth Dynasty is operating in and around the North-Eastern Delta; the Fourteenth Dynasty is underway also, at Xois in Avaris - the North-Central Delta. Babylon's King - Hammarubi - is "cleaning up" his part of the world north-east of Egypt, and there is a lot of people movement and resettlement around the middle-eastern countries in these times. Many people are migrating to Egypt to settle in the Northern part of the country. Among these immigrants are the peoples known as the Hyksos. Pharaoh Khasekhemre Neferhotep may be beginning his 11 year plus one month reign in the Egyptian Thirteenth Dynasty about this time (see commentary below for 1758 BC). NOTE: Joseph reigns as Vizier till his death in 1690 BC (he lives for 110 years). The Twelfth Dynasty will cease to function (in 1786 BC) before Joseph's death. Only the 13th and 14th Dynasties are operating. We can assume, therefore, that Joseph serves as Vizier to a Pharaoh of either the Thirteenth Dynasty or Fourteenth Dynasty. Joseph could not have be a vizier in any of the 15th, 16th, 17th or 18th dynasties because they will begin after his death. |

The Egyptian Thirteenth Dynasty Pharaoh Khasekhemre Neferhotep I reigned for eleven years and one month (12 inclusive years), say around 1770 and 1758 BC. He was contemporary with Hamurabi of Babylon, King Zimrilim of Mari, and Yanton(-Ammu) of Byblos. The 1758 BC date is understood to be Hamurabi's 35th regnal year, when he attacked King Zimrilim and his Mari peoples of North-Eastern Syria. Yantin(-Ammu) was ruling in Byblos at this time. In determining Hamurabi's 35th regnal year, there are four alternative dates to be considered in association with archaelogy and astronomy. The dates are 1814 BC, 1758 BC, 1694 BC, and 1531 BC. The astronomical date is taken from the coincidence of the 21-year reign of Babylon's First Dynasty eleventh king - Ammisadaga - with the infrequent 21-year rising of Venus - this coincidence known as "The Venus Solution". From the Babylonian King List, the reigns of the kings, therefore, can be backdated from the date beginning Ammisadaga's reign. |

JOSEPH died, aged 110 years. This was the 71st year since Israel entered Egypt. Joseph lived in Egypt for 93 years. He reigned 80 years, 40 of these years as king, or vizier of the king. The Book of Jasher says Magron's co-rex kingship of forty years with Joseph ended, after which time the Egyptians begin to rule over the king (Magron?) and the children of Israel. Little is known about these kings. Recent archaeological researchers have produced the names of SCHENKOR and YAKOB-AAM. (There is an uncanny likeness in the names "Yakob" and "Jacob". Could Yakob-aam have belonged to the house or family of Jacob/Israel? Could this man have been Jacob's eleventh son Joseph, who became a vizier in Egypt? This chronology, however, places Joseph's death in 1690 BC, six years before the beginning of the 16th dynasty in 1684 BC.) |

NOTE: The 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th Egyptian dynasties were from northern Egypt, which consisted of the north-eastern Delta immigrants, and the west-Semitic Hyksos conquerors. So Melol seems to be a Pharaoh of either the 15th, 16th or 17th Egyptian dynasties - all of which ended (Enc. 1580 BC
|
Enc. Britannica - By 1580 BC, the Seventeenth Dynasty of Egypt's kings had been under way for some seventy years in Thebes (Middle Egypt). The Seventeenth Dynasty, and the Hyksos Fifteenth Dynasty from the north, had co-existed peacefully for some time, as the Thebans grazed their cattle in the Delta (northern Egypt) which was ruled by the Hyksos. In 1580 BC, or thereabouts, APOPI (from the south) quarrelled with SEQENENRE TAO II, the Seventeenth Dynasty king in Thebes, and war may have erupted between them. The Thebans were the vassals of the Hyksos, and SEQENENRE TAO II faced unreasonable demands from the Hyksos. APOPI called on his ally the Cushite Prince (Cush at the southern end of Egypt) to attack the Thebans in the rear, but his plan was thwarted by KAMOSE, son of SEQUENENRE TAO II. Soon after this raid, APOPI died (APOPI had many collaborators in Middle and Northern Egypt). NOTE: According to this chronology, Moses is reigning as King (Prince?) of Cush at this time. Also, from the time that Salatis (Mayebre Sheshi?) founded the 15th Dynasty in Egypt in 1674 BC to this period of 1580 BC is a total of 94 years. According to the Book of Jasher, "Melol" the Pharaoh who oppressed the Israelites in Egypt at this time, also reigned 94 years before he caught a plague for ten years and died. Was Salatis the same person as Melol who could have lived on after the 15th Dynasty ceased to operate? If he lingered for ten years with plague, he would die about 1570 BC. |

Sunspot Cycle No. 219 = 219 x 11.1 = 2430.9 YEARS Enc. Britannica - About 1570 BC, KAMOSE the son of SEQENENRE TAO II, began his reign as the last Pharaoh of the Egyptian Seventeenth Dynasty. This was about ten years after SEQENENRE TAO II's battle with APOPI. The mummy of SEQENENRE TAO II shows terrible head wounds: a crushing blow, three axe wounds, and a sword thrust. He may have died in his sleep or during a battle. NOTE: There is a similar time frame here from 1566 BC to 1556 BC (see below) for the last ten years of Melol's life suffering with plague, and a ten-year gap in time before SEQENENRE TAO II's son KAMOSE took over the throne after his father's battle with APOPI (1580 BC to 1570 BC) - which if that battle didn't bring about his death, then his terrible wounds would not have enabled him to function very well. Why the delay in Kamose taking over the throne? Maybe Melol of Hyksos or western-Semitic origins in the north, fought in the same battle in support of the Hyksos king APOPI. Could Melol have been SEQENENRE TAO II? Or was he SALATIS? Or was Melol a Pharaoh in his own right from the little known Hyksos 16th Dynasty? These are all things to consider, especially when the estimated time-frames of these chronologies are within fourteen years. Enc. Britannica - KAMOSE, son of SEQENENRE TAO II, carried on the war and drove the Hyksos to Memphis (northern Egypt, near Cairo). One of his fleets sailed by Avaris, APOPI's Delta capital. He ruled the southernmost third of Egypt (did this include Cush?) . With troops from Nubia in the south he made a surprise attack on the Hyksos southern stronghold. He continued north to the eastern Delta and taunted the Hyksos king of the 15th Dynasty (Khayan?). |

Enc. Britannica - The Egyptian 15th, 16th and 17th Dynasties end about this time. It is not known what happened to KAMOSE, the last Pharaoh of the Seventeenth Dynasty, after this time. It is generally agreed by Egyptologists that Kamose may not have ruled for more than five years at the most. (As this chronology places the Exodus around 1552 BC, could it have been Kamose who was the Pharaoh who pursued the Israelites, only to be consumed by the wall of waters when crossing at the "Red Sea" (the Sea of Reeds)? In chapter 2 of David Rohl's publication "A Test of Time" he lists the names of the various pharaohs' mummies which were located in the Royal Cache TT 320. Sekenenre Taa and Ahhotep, Ahmose and Ahmose-Nefertari, and many of the Eighteenth Dynasty pharaohs' mummies are listed. Kahmose is not listed. I wonder if his mummy has been found? It is strange that it is missing from this list. His brother AHMOSE completed the task of liberation from the control of the Hyksos dynasties, thus beginning the Eighteenth Dynasty (1657 BC to 1320 BC). AHMOSE I (Nebpentyre) was very young when he came to the throne, and it is thought that he co-ruled for about eleven years with his mother (QUEEN AHHOTEP) till about 1556 BC, and from then on he had sole rule. |

AHMOSE I, Pharaoh of the now emerged sole Egyptian Eighteenth Dynasty captured Memphis. He crushed the Hyksos allies in middle Egypt thus ending the fifteenth Hyksos Dynasty. He captured Avaris and pursued the enemy as far back to Palestine. As well as this, he had advanced into Nubia in the south, and set up a governor there. There were rich gold mines in the south. He re-activated copper mines at Sinai and resumed trade along the Syrian coast. He married his full blooded sister NEFRETARI, and he was the first King to re-unify Egypt under a native ruler and restored to Egypt the boundaries it held in the Old Kingdom period of 2686 BC to 2160 BC. His wife, QUEEN AHMOSE NEFRETARI, was given the title "God's Wife of Amon". They had a son (Amenhotep I) who acceeded Ahmose in 1546 BC. Ahmose' officers were rewarded with the spoil and captives who became personal slaves. This created an influential military class. An overseer of southern foreign lands was appointed, and the encumbent was accorded the honorific title of "king's son", indicating that he was directly responsible to the king as deputy. By the end of the 16th century, there was a vizier in Upper (southern) Egypt, and one in Lower (northern) Egypt. This follows the practice of Viziers as used in the 13th Dynasty. |

In the booklet "The Exodus of Israel, Its Date and Historical Setting" written by the late David Davidson, he explains how some of the pharaohs of Egypt had altered their calendar at different times throughout history. Davidson considered that the date of the Sirius Rising (the Sothic Cycle) as recorded by Ramessu II was 240 years earlier than Egyptologists had supposed. Davidson therefore gives the date of 1559 BC for Sirius Rising - instead of 1319 BC. Click HERE to consider The Sothic Cycle As a result, the chronology of the Egyptian Dynasties is reconstructed by Davidson to the tune of 240 years. His chronology compares with others as follows, for the beginning of the Egyptian Eighteenth Dynasty with Ahmose I's reign:
So there's a difference of 66 years allotted to the beginning of the Eighteenth Dynasty for the "conventional" fifteenth century BC dates; whilst Davidson takes the plunge to a date 240 years earlier; and now Rohl is prepared to bring the date over three hundred years later than the conventional fifteenth century dates! Who's right? If anyone! All chronologists here do present convincing theories based on archaeological and astronomical information. Overall there's a difference in dates of 635 years! |

Melol of Egypt dies. Moses now in his 76th year. ADIKAM (also called AHUZ in the Egyptian language) accedes Egypt's throne. Moses is released and marries ZIPPORAH, the daughter of REUEL and has two sons called GERSHOM and ELIEZOR. The year 1556 BC is the possible date for the beginning of AHMOSE I's sole rule in Egypt till 1546 BC. Not only is there a pharaoh in Egypt "who knew not Joseph", but there is a new pharaoh of a "new dynasty" that "knew not Joseph". When Joseph was vizier in Egypt, it was not a united Egypt as it is now, for the first time since the Old Kingdom period.
