Voyager Software - At Cairo a Solar Eclipse on 14th January -1554 BC below the horizon at 21.10 Universal Time (which is 11.10 p.m. Local Cairo Time). Because this eclipse was below the horizon, it was not visible from Cairo.

(Web-writer's note: An astronomer's verification on the following research and its interpretation would be most welcome here. I am delving into areas which are beyond my expertise.

Voyager Software - At Cairo a visible Solar Eclipse on 11th July -1554 BC (astronomical date) at 13.50 Universal Time (which is 3.50 p.m. Local Cairo Time, or if one uses a 24-hour clock, 15.50 hours). Separation was at 0.3 degrees.

Julian Day 1153651.04

Voyager Software - The year -1554 astronomical" = 1555 BC. The "Voyager" astronomy software gives a solar eclipse over Cairo on 11th July -1554 (astronomical dating) at 13.50 pm Universal Tme, (Julian Day 1153651.04).

Separation at 0.3 degrees in Cairo 13.50 Universal Time (3.50 p.m. Local Time)

The total eclipse time from beginning, through greatest eclipse, to the end of the eclipse was about 5 hours 45 minutes. The total sun cover was about two hours.

The significance of this eclipse is that it occurred on the

eleventh day of the

eleventh "sacred" month (also the fifth "civil" month) of the Hebrew calendar

approximate 15.55 hours on the

year 1555 BC

Many ancient cultures considered that the sun "died" when it went below the horizon in the west at dusk, and was "reborn" when it emerged again in the east at dawn the next morning. Could the sun have been considered by the Hebrews (and the Egyptians) at that time as the "angel of death"?

The tenth plague upon the Egyptians before Pharaoh would let the Hebrew people go from their bondage of slavery, was death to all firstborn people and creatures. Was it on this night of the eclipse that "the angel of death" passed over?

The Book of Jasher says that on the the same night of this plague, Pharaoh king of Egypt approached Moses and Aaron, and let the people go, and that the people "delayed going forth at night". So they left in the morning. Did they leave at dawn (Cairo local time) on the morning of 12th July 1555 BC (-1554 BC astronomical reckoning)?

Now this chronology, as it unfolds with various cross-references, does not place the Exodus till three years later, i.e. in 1552 BC. Maybe this chronology is three years out of phase with this particular solar eclipse as an astronomical sign. Maybe our chronology should begin in 4003 BC instead of 4000 BC? On the other hand, the eclipse may have been a sign given by God to Moses and Aaron, that it was now time to go visit Pharaoh, and ask him to free the people. Could this eclipse have been a contributing factor to the ninth plague - the plague of darkness? The ten plagues upon Egypt before the Exodus are considered later in this work (at the year 1552 BC).

2445 AM = 1555 BC

NOTE: 2445 SOLAR YEARS is equal to 2520 LUNAR YEARS

The solar eclipse was in the constellation of Leo. The sun/moon/Venus conjunction near the star Regulus; Mercury, and a Jupiter/Saturn conjunction; Mars/Uranus conjunction at the star Spica in Virgo; Neptune and Pluto at Gemini - all the planets are there at the one time in the sky.

This visual heavenly description could complement the description of the Wonders in Heaven in Revelation chapter 12 of the Holy Bible.

According to the Book of Jasher, Moses is in his 78th year, and visits Pharoah with Aaron his brother.

From the records of secular history, the Pharaoh of Egypt at this time would have been AHMOSE I - the first Pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty who now may have taken over sole reign in Egypt, after sharing the kingship with his mother Queen Ahhotep during his younger years.

This eclipse may have partly contributed to the environmental conditions of the ninth plague of darkness over the land just prior to the Exodus.

Voyager Software - At Cairo a Solar Eclipse on 3rd November -1551 BC at 04.50 Universal Time (6.50 a.m. Local Time - so it may have been visible from Cairo). Separation was 0.1 degrees.

CROSS-CHECK TIMELINE ...

According to the Book of Jasher, the Exodus took place 210 years after the Israelites entered Egypt. According to the Bible, the Exodus took place 430 years after Abraham was promised land by God (this was when Abram was 70 years old). According to the Bible, the Exodus took place 400 years after Isaac (just after his birth) was mocked by the son of the Egyptian woman.

The Israelites entered Egypt in the year 2239 AM. Add 210 years and this places the Exodus at 2449 AM (or 1551 BC)

Abram was promised land by God when aged 70 - this was in the year 2018 AM. Add 430 years and this places the Exodus at 2448 AM (or 1552 BC)

Isaac was mocked by the Egyptian woman in the year 2048 AM. Add 400 years and this places the Exodus at 2488 AM (or 1552 BC).

So the Exodus could have taken place at around 1552 BC or 1551 BC. The Bible gives no time-frame for how long the plagues took before Pharaoh let the people go. Click HERE to consider the time-frame and journey from Egypt to the Construction of the Tabernacle.

 Commentary ...

John S. Fox in his book Today, Tomorrow and the Great Beyond, places the Exodus at 1486 BC (as does the late David Davidson), and the Pharaoh of Egypt at that time according to his calculations could have been Menephtah, who was the next Pharaoh after Ramses II of the Nineteenth Dynasty. Fox claims that Ramses II died five years before the Exodus.

The New Bible Dictionary places the Exodus at approximately 1280-1260 BC, and it claims that the Pharaoh at that time was probably Ramses II.

These are only two examples of the great differences in the attempt to interpret archaeological research and ancient documents etc. in relation to what the secular historians have to say.

One thing that I have observed in this chronological study is that most researchers gloss over the period of the Judges which follows some 38-40 years after the Exodus. They do not agree on the timelines of what they differentiate between major and minor judges. If one takes the time periods given in the Bible as authentic for the period of the judges, then the above dates certainly do not "fit in" with the dates given in secular history as far as the Exodus of Israel is concerned.

As far as this chronology is concerned,

Voyager software - At Cairo a Solar Eclipse on 23rd October -1550 (1551 BC) at 03.50 Universal Time (5.50 a.m. Cairo Local Time). Separation was at 0.6 degrees, but the eclipse was below the horizon.

CONSTRUCTION OF MOSES' TABERNACLE in the Wilderness was completed and the tabernacle reared (raised up) on the first day of the first month of the second year after the Exodus. This date could have been around 1551 BC or 1550 BC, depending upon the actual year of the departure day of the people from Egypt en route to their first campsite.

End seventh Sabbatic Week of 49th Jubilee - No sow, no reap

According to the Plagues of Egypt Timeline, this month would be the eleventh sacred Hebrew month of AB or the English month of JULY.

In view of the many considerations for establishing the date of the Exodus, one would be wise in saying that the Exodus from Egypt, and the rearing of the Tabernacle, seemed to occur sometime between 1555 BC and 1550 BC. It would be most appropriate for the Tabernacle to be reared in a Jubilee Year! ...

Enc. As the year in which an eclipse occurred is never mentioned on the preserved oracle bones (many of which are mere fragments), dating of these observations by astronomical calculation has proved extremely difficult. A recent investigation of five lunar eclipses yielded likely dates between 1200 and 1180 BC. Shang chronology, however, is still very uncertain."

Enc. Britannica - THUTMOSE II (Akheperenre) (1512 BC to 1504 BC) of the Egyptian Eighteenth Dynasty begins his reign.

Moses reads The Law to the nation. He dies shortly afterwards, aged 120. After three days, the Israelites pass over the Jordan with Joshua (aged 32) leading them. Two spies are sent out from Shittim to spy on Jericho. Rahal hides the two spies; they leave and hide in the mountains for three days. They then returned to Joshua in Shittim. Next day, all Israel go down to the Jordan river for three days. When they leave on the third day, the sea parts and they cross over.

The people came up on the tenth day of the first month and camped in Gilgal, and Joshua set up the twelve stones they took out of Jordan. The people who were born in the wilderness were circumcised, then when finished God said "This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of this place is called "GILGAL" unto this day." (GILGAL means CIRCLE). The Passover was kept on the 14th day of the month in the plains of Jericho. The Captain of the Lord's host arrived and talked with Joshua, and Joshua was told to take off his shoes because he was on holy ground.

There follows five years of wars with the kings of the Canaanites during which time "the sun stood still" "36 times" or "moments", and "the moon stood still and hastened not to go down a whole day".

SAROS CYCLE NO. 138 = 2488.1 years

At Stonehenge - a Solar Eclipse on 12th October 1512 BC

METONIC CYCLE NO. 131 = 2488.9 years

NOTE that the Saros and Metonic Cycles have occurred the same year. The last time that the SAROS cycle met the METONIC cycle was in 2127 or 2128 AM, some 360 years previously. If we divide 36 "times" or "moments" into 360 years, then could "a moment" be a period of 10 years? Could the meeting of the solar and lunar cycles affect calendar adjustment for these ancient peoples? Could such a calendar adjustment be expressed by the terms of the sun and/or the moon standing still?
