MEASURE THE TEMPLE

INTRODUCTION

NUMBER 11

Let us return to our thought of the importance of the centre in relation to the shape of the circle, and apply this to the structure of the book of Revelation. This book has 22 chapters, the centre chapters are numbers 11 and 12. The first half of the book has 11 chapters, and the second half of the book has 11 chapters.

 11 = 10 + 1

12 = 11 + 1

11 = 12 - 1

The number 11 is expressed by the concentration of the primary number 1. "One" is the number of unity. There is, according to God's Word only "one" God:

"In the beginning God ... " (Genesis 1.1)

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me ... " (Exodus 20.3)

Number 1 and concentrations of it refer to the Deity of God. Bonnie Gaunt in her book "The Magnificent Numbers" gives the gematria of the Hebrew and Greek alphabetic letters which confirm the importance of the number 1 in expressing God's name through language or words:

 1111 = My Name (Revelation 2.13)

1111 = Name of the Son (1 John 5.13)

111 = Wonderful (Isaiah 9.6) - a name given to Jesus who was yet to come

1221 = (111 x 11) = Holy Master (Revelation 6.10)

2220 = (111 x 20) = I am Alpha and Omega (Revelation 1.11)

Bonnie Gaunt gives a measurement of 11.1 square feet as the square of one end of the exterior of the coffer in the King's Chamber in the Pyramid of Cheops, and 11.11 square sacred cubits or .000111 of a square furlong for twice the square of the bottom of the exterior of the coffer (i.e. top and bottom). Those who have studied the significance of the empty coffer or tomb in the Pyramid will know that it is regarded as symbolic of the risen Christ by the power of God, and is therefore associated with resurrection. The height of the Pyramid is 484 feet or 11 x 44 or 22 x 22, assuming the topstone is placed in position.

Can we expect to find the significance of the numbers 11 and 22 applicable to chapter 11 of Revelation? Yes. In the first two verses of this chapter, John is told to

MEASURE THE TEMPLE

and the function of the temple throughout the Bible is to do with the expression of the relationship between God and man. When I had read these two verses, and started to measure the Tabernacle of Moses, I did not have any idea as to the amount of work which was to come, and indeed, have yet by no means exhausted the subject. It's like the design of the heavens, ever increasing references and cross-references, and knowledge ever expanding, never ending.
